Jubilee Nederland is een kenniscentrum op het gebied van de internationale schulden-problematiek.

 

Jubilee Nederland zet zich in voor schuldverlichting voor ontwikkelingslanden en het voorkomen van onhoudbare schulden. Daardoor komt er meer geld vrij voor armoedebestrijding en duurzame economische ontwikkeling. Ontwikkelingslanden zijn dan beter in staat om de millenniumdoelen te realiseren. Verder pleiten wij voor verantwoord leengedrag om nieuwe onbetaalbare schulden te voorkomen. Jubilee Nederland vindt dat schuldkwijtschelding additioneel moet zijn, d.w.z. niet ten koste van de begroting voor ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Dat doet Jubilee Nederland door politieke lobby en publieksvoorlichting.

Nieuwe coördinator

Sinds 15 februari is Koos de Bruijn de coördinator van Jubilee Nederland.
Koos de Bruijn volgt in die functie Murat Kotan op. Koos de Bruijn studeerde Internationale Betrekkingen in Groningen en was daarna enkele jaren werkzaam bij een lobby-adviesbureau.

A fair and transparent debt work-out procedure: 10 civil society principles

This paper outlines ten principles which EURODAD believes are the essential components of such a mechanism. We urge policymakers to initiate an inter-governmental initiative on the principles set out in this document and should aim to establish – within a specified timeframe – such a procedure at the international level. Given recent pressures on many countries due to the global economic downturn, the moment could not be more opportune.
